Ilda Ukonniemi, born Christin Bayer, comes from Gotha in Thuringia. An office clerk by profession, she has already worked as a tour guide abroad for several years and has always been artistically active in her free time, on paper or on the violin, guitar or cello.
Even as a child she drew a lot and her teachers noticed her artistic talent. She is particularly interested in the history of World War II, ancient Egypt and pre-astronautics. She is particularly fond of Icelandic magic with all its protective runes and symbols.
She herself has a Vegvísir, Ægishjálmur, Veldismagn and Hulinhjálmur tattoo and started tattooing in June 2018. She really enjoys drawing the designs, driven by the desire that the wearers of her tattoos will proudly say that it was done by “Ilda Ukonniemi” – her Finnish alter ego.
Above all, she hopes that the tattoos she does will be understood as the symbols that many of them are - protective symbols that give strength and can change lives in a meaningful way. She doesn't think much of fashion trends and the tattoos that go with them. When she was creating a few designs, she came up with the idea of putting a Haunebu motif on a T-shirt. Since then, she has also occasionally drawn on fabric for family and friends using textile paint and a brush. Welcome to Project Nordmark, Ilda! Here's to a good collaboration. Some of her works that will also be used in Project Nordmark.
